The organization believes in enhancing social and life skills as a part of the development of the holistic child. To
these, trips, workshops and parties are frequently organized.
Since 2007 the children from the 3 centres have been on two overnight trips together. These were organized to enhance independent life skills in many of them and to provide opportunities for socialization for those who rarely venture out without their parents.
The children have been on river rafting trips where they get to do a variety of activities including rafting, trekking, understanding and respecting nature and village life. They develop confidence in negotiating simple problems independently without parental support.
Drama and music workshops
From time to time and especially during the summer break drama and music workshops are organized to allow the children to explore these avenues of expression. Experienced professionals from the two fields associated with the organization, design and execute the workshops.
Summer camp 2008
The first summer camp, organized in May-June 2008, was a great success. Children with a range of difficulties participated in this one-month camp which aimed at having fun and enhancing skills. There was an emphasis on working together and social skills. Teachers and professional taught the children basics in Madhubani painting style. There were many craft activities where children learned to refine their fine motor skills while producing beautiful masks, woven table mats, papier mache, junk jewellery, musical instruments.
The success has urged us to consider running these classes throughout the year and of course plans are on for the summer camp 2009!!!!
Coming up in August 2008
The next batch of the course "Education of Children with Learning Disabilities" in New Delhi.
Registration details are available at the 3 centres and the website.
